Dr. Ricardo González received his undergraduate degree in physics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and his MSc and PhD in astronomy from the same institution. He then did two postdoctoral research fellowships: the first at the Instituto de Astronomia, Geofísica e Ciências Atmosféricas da Universidade de São Paulo (IAG-USP) Brasil, and the second at the Institute for Nuclear Sciences (ICN) of the UNAM. He has been a researcher at the UNAM since 2005.

He uses hydrodynamic models to study the interaction of stellar winds from massive stars and also the interaction of winds from low-mass stars with their environment. He also studies Coronal Mass Ejections (CME) from the Sun and Corrotating Interacting Regions (CIR) in the Solar wind.

Dr. González has represented the Institute of Radioastronomy and Astrophysics on the Technical Council for Scientific Research (CTIC) of the UNAM.
